Adelaide City Councillor Francis Wong says he is pushing for closed circuit cameras to be installed along Gouger Street as soon as possible.

Councillor Wong put forward a motion to the council in June but no action was taken.

The council will now review its safety strategy along Gouger Street, aiming to speed up the installation of the cameras.

Mr Wong says Gouger Street should have the same level of surveillance as Hindley Street.

"I'm disappointed that we haven't got it up and with the recent shooting on Gouger Street and especially with the current situation, I'm sure that after this council meeting we will see CCTV on Gouger Street and hopefully more police patrols as well," he said.
