CAPTURED ON A BUS CCTV.. THE SICKENING MOMENT A PAEDOPHILE PICKS UP HIS 9-YEAR-OLD VICTIM

HORRIFYING CCTV footage showing a paedophile stalking a girl of nine before luring her off a bus helped to jail him indefinitely yesterday.

Kevin Toner, 20, followed his victim on to the bus, then enticed her into woods before making her undress and sexually abusing her.

The "cunning sexual predator" even filmed his sickening attack - his second on young children - on his mobile phone.

He then threatened to kill the girl and a friend she had been with at the bus stop if she told anyone.

Sentencing Toner, who was found guilty at an earlier hearing, Recorder Jeremy Richardson said yesterday: "A woman who found the girl said she had never seen a child so frightened."

Toner, of North Ormesby, Middlesbrough, handed himself in to police after the CCTV footage from September 6 last year, was released. He will serve at least four years before being considered for parole and was placed on the sexual offenders' register for life.

Mr Richardson told him: "You were a sexual predator who had a cunning purpose. By pleading not guilty you forced the girl to give evidence. You spared the child nothing. She had to re-live the ordeal at your hands.

"You have shown no remorse. The whole perverted episode has had a devastating effect on a young child."

The court heard when Toner was 14 in 2002 he had sexually assaulted two boys aged nine and 10 after luring them into a caravan.

The judge told him: "You pose a serious risk of causing serious harm to children. The public and particularly children must be protected from you." Speaking outside Teesside crown court, the girl's father said: "It has been a shattering experience and it is a relief the case is now over.

"We will never get 100 per cent closure but the successful prosecution of Kevin Toner must surely go a long way to that target. We can only hope time weakens our bad memories of this crime. Our daughter is a lot more badly behaved, her character has changed."

Det Insp Stan Drummqnd, senior investigating officer, said: "It was every parents nightmare. The CCTV footage helped us greatly."

FORMER school music teacher Graham Conridge, 60, of Bedford, was jailed for 32 months yesterday after he admitted at Luton crown court posing as a teen boy on the web to persuade young girls to strip and perform sex acts.
